Welcome to the
Geeveston Community Centre
Geeveston has many attractions (natural, historic and
cultural). The area was first called Lightwood Bottom and in
1861 was called Geeves Town after the Geeves family. The name
was changed to Geeveston in 1888.
Geeveston has the most
southerly local government area and is located in the Huon Valley, 62 kilometres South of Hobart,
a journey of approximately 90 minutes. In Geeveston itself you can find local attractions such as
the Forest & Heritage Centre, Geeveston Highlands Salmon & Trout
Fishery, and many other businesses such as cafes & a community
bank as well as several places for accommodation.
Geeveston is the
gateway to the Hartz Mountains National Park, The Tahune Airwalk
and Hastings Caves.
Tiger Line Coaches
http://www.tigerline.com.au have a few buses traveling to
and
from Geeveston every day, some of which then travel on
through
Geeveston to Dover. To check out the route have a look at the
maps page and we look forward to seeing you!
