Joeys Jump Together!
Joeys are the youngest in the Scouting Family and learn skills which
with introduce them to the world of scouting. Joey section leaders
have names of Australian animals and at Howrah, the names you will use
are Tassie Devil, Platypus, Bilby and Dingo .
The Joey program is
for both boys and girls and it introduces them to the world of
challenges and adventures through emphasizing fun and friendship in a
social environment.
Joey Scouts jump into all sorts of fun and games together! Boys and
girls aged 6 and 7 years old can join Joeys, and when they do there's
lots to keep them occupied.
You can try out
Joeys for four weeks before being invested and when you do you get to
wear a District scarf, a woggle to keep it in place, and your own Joey
Scout shirt.
Joeys are taught about sharing, about nature and about the world around
them. Joeys are given a sense of belonging and learn ways for creative
expression. And most importantly, Joeys are taught to jump in and help.
'Help Other People' (H.O.P)
HOP (Help Other People) is the Joey motto.
This motto supports the development of social interaction with other
children and encourages a sense of belonging.
Where Do We Meet
Joeys meet on a Friday evening from 5.30 – 6.30pm at the Tranmere Hall,
Tranmere. When we are together on this nights we form a Mob and have
lots of adventure and make lots of new friends. Joeys learn about
nature, sing songs, go on fun trips, make crafts, play games and even do
some cooking.
Fun Out And About
Joey Scouts do a wide variety of things in their Section. Some of these
include cutting, drawing, colouring, painting, pasting, making musical
instruments and singing, flying kites and listening to stories like the
one on the right.

Joey Scout Uniform
The uniform for Joey Scouts, whether boys or girls, is the
same. When invested a standard Joey Scout Uniform is worn together
with the Group Scarf , National Joey Scout Woggle. The National Joey
Scout Woggle is a tan coloured cloth woggle with the World Scout Badge
and the words "Joey Scout" in white embroidered upon it.
Click the Link below to find out about the Uniform on the National
Scout's web site.

Ceremonies
There is a simple standard for the opening, closing, welcoming
and going up ceremony. The opening and closing ceremonies can vary, but
there are core elements that must be included: The Leader breaks the
flag for the opening ceremony, the Joey Scout may salute when the flag
is broken, the Joey Scout theme "help other people" will be spoken and
the Leader lowers the flag for the closing ceremony and a short prayer
of thanks is used. For the going up ceremony see the Cub Scout Section.
Parental Consent Health Form
A Parent's Consent
Form is required for youth members in order that they receive
appropriate general medical and health care if required on an activity.
