About Job Futures Tasmania
Job Futures Tasmania is a community not-for-profit employment services organisation.  We have four offices in Tasmania serving your local communities.  We are helping other non-profit organisations by providing free website construction for community groups that do not have a presence on the web.

 What is Mutual Obligation?
Mutual obligation is based on the principle that unemployed job seekers supported financially by the community should actively seek work. The objective of mutual obligation is to encourage and motivate job seekers to take responsibility for and to be focused on their job search and preparing for work activities.

What is Work for the Dole?
Work for the Dole provides work experience for unemployed people. The objectives of Work for the Dole are to:

Participants sign an agreement to undertake work experience activities for at least 24 hours per fortnight if aged 18 to 21, 30 hours per fortnight if aged 21 to 39 or 12 hours per fortnight if they are over 40. Participants will be paid an extra allowance of $20.80 per fortnight to assist with costs such as transport.

 What are Training Credits?
You can now become even more job-ready under the federal government's Australian's Working Together initiative.  From July 1, 2002 you can earn training credits of up to $800 on completion of your Work for the Dole or Community Work. Your Training Credits can be used to pay for training or course fees which are recognised nationally by employers, State and Territory governments and educational institutions.  You may wish to pursue training in IT areas, TAFE accredited courses or manual labouring programmes. If you require further information call the Work for the Dole Hotline on  1300 362 368, or visit the website at www.workplace.gov.au.

What is a Community Work Coordinator?
Community Work Coordinators work with community and not-for-profit organisations to develop quality Work for the Dole activities that provide a benefit to both Work for the Dole participants and the community. Community Work Coordinators approve, manage and monitor Work for the Dole activities, place participants in activities and administer Training Credits.
