Spring in Tasmania is an incredible experience.

2006 Pacific Region International Rhododendron Conference

20th October 2006

offers a unique package for rhododendron enthusiasts with an opportunity to visit one of the world's great developing rhododendron gardens to celebrate its 25th Anniversary and to view Tasmania's magnificent rainforest & wilderness areas as well as hear a top group of speakers from many countries talk on a broad range of rhododendron and allied subjects.

  • Conference begins with a Welcome Dinner on Friday evening, 20th October 2006. A weekend of informative presentations from a team of top speakers from Tasmania, Australia and around the world with guided tours of the widely acclaimed Emu Valley Rhodendron Garden follows.

  • Along with a feast of rhododendron knowledge, we will include some experts on the unique flora of Tasmania and the links that still exist with the former Gondwanaland, and support this with a guided tour of a cool temperate rainforest at Tasmania's Cradle Mountain National Park.

  • An extended tour of Tasmania's West Coast and Central Highlands is also available, with a cruise on the Gordon River and a steam rail excursion on a rack & pinion track through some breathtaking mountain country. This tour will finish in Hobart on Friday, 27th October, in time for the Hobart Rhododendron Show.

  • Travel on to New Zealand for a further series of events planned by local rhododendron groups.

  • Tour mainland Australia, and rhododendron gardens there, prior to your arrival in Tasmania.

  • Our venue will now be the Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden's new visitor centre. Delegates will be transported between the venue and their nearby accommodation at local hotels.

Tasmanian hospitality just has to be experienced. With some of the world's best wines and fresh produce, and so much to see in such a small state, we can confidently promise an unforgettable experience.

October is mid-spring in Tasmania and rhododendrons will be at their best. All this as northern temperatures begin to fall.

  • Why not join us for a few days down in paradise?
  • We promise you a big welcome, superb food and hospitality, an amazing garden, unique Tasmanian wilderness, and about 4 of our dollars for every 3 U.S dollars.
